Melissa’s interest in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine began when she was working at an Integrative Health clinic as an office administrator. Once she received her first treatment, and she knew she was enamored and began to pursue a career in Chinese medicine. Melissa is passionate about Chinese medical theory and is especially inspired by the Taoist roots that imbue the medicine with a focus on the intricate and profound ties between the human body and the natural world around us. As a practitioner, Melissa focuses on meeting each patient where they are in their health journey, and collaborating on their specific health goals to bring about vibrant health and vitality. She loves to share her knowledge of health and wellness, work as a team, and believes warmth, kindness and compassion are the foundation of healing.
Melissa is a graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, is certified through the NCCAOM, and is licensed to practice Acupuncture in Oregon through the Oregon Medical Board. She has completed advanced training in Sports Medicine Acupuncture as well as nutritional therapy, pediatric acupuncture and functional movement training. After graduating, Melissa spent three months in rural Nepal, where she treated over 500 patients in an integrative primary care clinic. During treatments, Melissa will use acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, massage, Chinese herbal therapy as well as nutritional and dietary advice.
When she is not treating patients, Melissa can be found hiking, camping, cooking and paddle boarding. She also loves to curl up with a great book, make jewelry and practice yoga and meditation.
