MELT Method Can Help You Live Pain-Free

How the MELT Method Can Help You Live Pain-Free

Root Whole Body Front Page, healing + injury prevention, reducing stress

What can you do with a few foam balls? Apparently, a whole lot of good stuff for your brain and body. In the New York Times bestselling book The MELT Method, author and body worker Sue Hitzmann teaches an easy self-care method that promotes a healthy conversation between your brain (i.e thoughts, emotions, feelings) and your connective tissue and fascia.

MELT (short for Myofascial Energetic Length Technique) is a gentler way of self-massaging and stretching that uses specially designed soft foam balls and a foam roller to treat the connective tissue and nervous system. Think of connective tissue as being like a sponge. When it’s wet, it’s soft and flexible. When dry, it’s stiff and tight. The soft foam balls and foam roller used in the MELT Method gently urge the body’s moisture to rehydrate stiff tissue. The result is a release of “stuck stress,” the kind of injury that happens when the due to injury or sitting at a desk too much… and can lead to headaches, jaw aches, neck aches, joint stiffness and backaches.

Because the self-massage techniques are so gentle, MELT is an excellent practice for people who are injured, post-surgery, pregnant, overweight, sedentary, out of shape, or have limited mobility, chronic pain, and knee or hip replacements.

It’s also a great starting point for any exercise and wellness program. People who practice MELT regularly report that they’re drawn to exercise more often. It’s easier to prioritize movement when your body feels good, has more energy, and is free of pain.

For a hands-on demonstration, join us this summer for a MELT Hand and Foot Workshop at each of our locations, and discover how the MELT Method can help you relieve pain and tension in your body.
