Root Whole Body: Now Open in NW Portland

Root Whole Body Uncategorized

Root Whole Body’s flagship whole body health center is now open at NW 21st & Quimby St. (across from New Seasons) in Northwest Portland.

At 6,500 square feet, the new Root NW is roughly twice the size of our Irvington. Root NW offers a full complement of health services supporting the four pillars of holistic health – food, movement, immunity and pause – with services including Yoga and movement classes, Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, Chiropractic Medicine, Nutrition, Massage Therapy and Organic Skin Care, delivered in a comfortable and life-affirming environment. There’s also Root Café, offering healthy grab-and-go bites, smoothies and juices, as well as a teaching kitchen for food demonstrations and special events.

Root’s NW Portland whole body health center is located in the Q21 Building at NW 21st & Quimby.

“We’re thrilled to bring our vision of Whole Body Health to the people who live and work in the Northwest area,” Root founder and CEO Pat Johnson says.

“Root is a welcoming place for those who seek out a natural-first approach towards their health – whether you’re new to holistic health or a longtime practitioner. We make it easy to see the connection among various treatment modalities and to feel encouraged and supported to try new things.”

To that end, the new Root is designed with comfortable treatment rooms as well as spaces for people to gather and meet for classes, demos and workshops. Root NW amenities include:

  • Two movement studios
  • 10 Treatment Rooms
  • Private hydrotherapy soaking room
  • Private full-spectrum infrared sauna
  • Community sauna
  • Tea room for relaxation and meditation
  • Café & teaching kitchen

“Whole Body Health recognizes that the body is an interconnected system, so achieving optimal health requires looking at the whole person,” Johnson says. “We’ve assembled a broad collection of natural health services and practitioners under one roof … and we’re creating spaces where people can learn, practice, explore and share with each other.”

Current Root clients and members are welcome to visit both locations for classes and services, and some therapists and practitioners may serve in both locations.

“Our original Irvington Root location has been a living laboratory for bringing together so many holistic health services and fine-tuning our vision,” Johnson says. “The time is right to stretch our wings. People in today’s world understand more and more that taking care of oneself is necessary practice, not an indulgence. They understand the power of pause and crave more of it in their lives. They’re hungry for foods that are more nourishing.  They’re wanting to feel their best and to build their immunity against illness. They want to live their best lives, and we’re here to help them do just that.”
