Join us for 8 Saturdays, from April 7th through May 26, 12:00pm to 1:30pm, for Qigong with Ben Gitchel at the NE Portland Root location. Learn how to better balance your qi (life energy) through meditation, movement and breath work. Ben has studied Qigong for over 10 years and brings a unique perspective on the wide diversity of internal experience; creating an approach that allows each individual a way to relate to the cultivation of the Three Treasures of Taoist internal alchemy; jing (essence), qi (vitality), and shen (spirit).
8 week Schedule:
week 1: This class will be an introduction to JinJing (tendon/channel) Qigong. We will cover the opening and closing sequences which are common to all the forms of the system, as well as abdominal "dantian" breathing and the signature "transition" movement of the JinJingGong.
week 2: In this class, we will begin our work with the first form of the JinJingGong, the "Yin Yang Sheng Jiang Kai He Gong," or "Ying/Yang, Rising/Falling, Opening/Closing" Form.
week 3: This week we will continue our work with the first form, introducing the movement known as "Cloud Hands."
week 4: This week we will continue our work with the form, introducing the second movement known as "Yin/Yang Palms Regulating Qi."
week 5: In week 5, we continue our work with the opening and closing, adding the two previous movements and introducing a third, "Yin/Yang Opening and Closing."
week 6: This week, we build upon our work of the first form and add another movement, "Returning the Qi to the Sea of Qi."
week 7: In week 7, we add the final movement "Returning the Myriad Qi to the Source" and complete our introduction to JinJingGong and the first form of the system.
week 8: Our final week, we conclude with a shortened class and a closing celebration.
