Traditional Sauna
Saunas are popularly used to detox the body through sweating, soothe sore muscles, and burn calories. However, with the adoption of a full-spectrum infrared sauna, the body enjoys intense healing without unbearably-high temperatures. Infrared saunas are a gentle, more effective way to heal with heat and light.
how does it work?
Infrared light penetrates the skin, repairing and rejuvenating on a deep level. This dynamic heat treatment also relieves muscle pain by soothing nerve endings, increases circulation, and treats various chronic conditions.
“Infrared wavelengths penetrate the body to create heat, which creates profound therapeutic benefits. They increase blood flow to the muscles, delivering more concentrated oxygen, which creates more energy to heal.”
-Dr. Jeffrey Spencer – University of Southern California
A full-spectrum infrared sauna, as its name suggests, offers treatments at various levels, known as near, middle, and far. All waves are absorbed into the body like sunlight, whether the light is seen with the naked eye or not.
- Near-Infrared treatments, which penetrates on a superficial level, are ideal for skin reparation, boosting immunity, and maintaining healthy cell function.
- Middle-Infrared treatments go a level deeper, encouraging circulation, pain management, and muscle relief.
- Far-infrared treatments can detoxify the body as much as seven times more effectively than a regular sauna, increasing the body’s core temperature greatly.
who is it for?
Children and adults, the sick and the well, and all walks of life (including pets) can enjoy the endless benefits that a full-spectrum infrared sauna brings. However, each person reacts differently to heat, so it’s best to check with your health practitioner to be sure that you’re engaging in the safest practices possible. And, of course, trust your body and intuition when exposing yourself to something new! You can also schedule a complimentary appointment with one of our Whole Body Health Advisors to learn more about incorporating infrared sauna into your wellness regime.
In general, infrared saunas are great for:
- Sleep
- Treating high blood pressure
- Arthritis
- Weight Loss
- Pain relief
- Wounds, acne, and other skin issues
The most important benefit of sauna usage is, arguably, relaxation. When we’re stressed, all levels are affected – body, mind, and emotions. Infrared therapy has been proven to enhance relaxation by alleviating negativity, depression, and anxiety; allowing the body to repair from the inside-out.
when and how often?
Sauna therapy can be practiced daily – however, if you’re new to the practice, plan on increasing your sauna usage from 10-minute intervals up to an hour a week (under the guidance of a health advisor). Be sure to stay hydrated, as the body expels most of its waste through sweat via this detoxification process.
